The new Colquitt County High School provides educational opportunities for 1900 students each year within the 364,000 square feet of floor space. The school includes 104 instructional units, vocational labs, band/choir suites, 16 science labs, 4 basketball courts, and 954 parking spaces. The school has a unique design using sustainable and recyclable materials. The 4 story facility was designed with the county’s wish list in mind as well as what was financially and logistically feasible. The facility was designed with 4 stories instead of 2 or 3 stories to produce a facility with a smaller footprint, a lower environmental impact and increased student circulation efficiency. The building is also unique in that it has a courtyard between the 4 wings with an amphitheater.
